One of my fave places for a day out is Airfield Estate Dundrum. Nestled in the Dublin mountains, it is such a gorgeous place to visit. The grounds are stunning, it is a working farm and there are so many beautiful flowers, tress and plants dotted around the place. Animals lounge, birds peck and the bees buzz around the bee garden. It is a stunning spot for a family day out. Pack a picnic or have lunch there in the Overends restaurant, where much of the food is produced on the estate farm!

They’ve just launched Afternoon Tea and yesterday I headed over with the girls to try it out. As expected, its quite fabulous. The food was really delicious and creative and the coffee and tea was excellent too. The smell and taste of the coffee was enough to perk me up after we had spent an hour walking the grounds to build up our appetite!

Its hard to pick the nicest thing we ate….the white chocolate profiteroles were pretty special…. the cheese & stout on toast was so yummy…. the crab on brioche was so delicate and tasty….. the meringue with lemon and thyme was unusual yet delicious…..the seeded scones were really scrummy (I brought two of these home and had them for breakfast this morning!). There were some quirky treats on there too….like the Ox Tongue which just tasted like roast beef actually! All in all, it was a very palatable feast and we really enjoyed it. The walk around the grounds beforehand was a good idea because it boosted our appetites nicely!!
